Veterans Park was built in the early 1990's as a community park and future softball/baseball complex. In 2005 a group of veterans led by Leon Marcy approached the City of Tupelo Parks and Recreation Department with a desire to build a memorial to honor all Mississippi veterans.
After much planning and preparation by the City of Tupelo Parks and Recreation Department, various state and local veterans organizations along with the help of JBHM Architects, a memorial park was designed. This is a memorial that will be a lasting tribute to all of the men and women who have served our country representing every branch of service.
Now we need your help! We are asking that groups and individuals use this as an opportunity to partner with us and help build a memorial deserving of all veterans. This effort will not only enrich the local community in and surrounding the City of Tupelo, but will show support in never forgetting the sacrifices that so many have made.
Winston Churchill once said "A people that have forgotten their heritage are a people who have lost faith in themselves." We believe in our heritage and want to show our support. Will you?
